POLICE OFFICER, 0-12 mths- $48,753; 13-36 mths- $58,508; 37-96 mths-$61,305; Master-$71,642. The Nationally Accredited Sioux City Police Department is actively recruiting new officers. We offer numerous career opportunities in Uniform and Detective assignments, K-9, Gang Unit, Federal Drug Task Force, Community Policing Team, School Liaison, Youth Bureau, ASAP/Traffic Enforcement, and Tactical SWAT Team. If you have been a certified officer in the State of Iowa for two years or have a four-year college degree, you will start at Step 2 ($58,508).
Minimum Qualifications: 1) be a United States citizen; 2) be 21 years of age by March 13, 2017; 3) be able to pass written, eye, back x-ray, physical, physical agility, drug and alcohol screening, oral, and psychological examinations; 4) be of good moral character and never been convicted of a felony or have a misdemeanor conviction for domestic violence; 5) completed 60 hours of college credits with a minimum grade average of “C”; or four years experience as certified full-time city, county, state or federal police officer or high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years full-time Military service in the U.S. Armed Forces with an honorable discharge (a combination of the above is acceptable; 15 college credits=one year of experience. Documentation of education and experience must be submitted with application, plus military DD214 long if applicable). Study Guides will be provided upon receipt of application. If offered a position, candidates must be willing to relocate to the State of Iowa and live within ten miles of the City limits.
